Your trusted experts in hosting IBM i in the cloud

What is iInTheCloud?

iInTheCloud is a commercial-grade, Tier 3 hosting service that offers our clients scalable, flexible, and highly available IBM Power Systems servers. These servers run IBM i, AIX, and PowerLinux with the reliability, compliance, and performance to support any organization. This service can provide organizations with the ability to host production, test or development environments or to replicate environments for high availability and disaster recovery.

Our foundation is built on IBM Power Systems hardware running IBM i, providing logical partitions that can meet our clients’ needs with the ability to quickly provision cloud-based partitions and adjust the resources as required by their changing needs.

To ease the challenges of running a hosted environment, we can manage the logical partitions for our clients. Alternatively, they can choose to manage the environments themselves.

iInTheCloud is operated by some of the best known IBM i and POWER Systems experts in the world. Our System Administrators are all IBM Certified, with a minimum of 20 years with System Administrator and platform experience.

Leadership

Larry Bolhuis
Co-President, iInTheCloud, LLC
President, Frankeni Technology Consulting, LLC

Larry obtained a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Calvin College in 1982 and soon after began working on IBM mid-range equipment with the S/34 and S/36. Larry worked on the AS/400 at its introduction in 1988.

After spending many years as a developer, Larry began working on communications, networking, and systems management tasks. During his years of working with SNA, SDLC, SNADS, APPC, and APPN followed by TCP/IP, he developed strong communications troubleshooting skills. In addition to networking on the IBM side, Larry learned the infrastructure components of the network – including switches routers and firewalls – working chiefly with Cisco equipment.

In 20 years as an IBM Business Partner, Larry worked with IBM’s systems from design through implementation and migration. He has worked on the smallest and largest projects – and everything in between. He has been involved in many Early Release and Beta programs with IBM Rochester. In addition to holding more than 30 IBM certifications on the AS/400, iSeries, System i, and Power Systems, including IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert, Larry is a contributing author to many IBM Certification tests.

Larry is a frequent, award-winning speaker at user groups around North America, covering systems design and management, networking and connectivity, work management, PTF, and Hardware Management Console topics. He has been a longtime volunteer and speaker with COMMON, which has awarded him Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and the Distinguished Service Award, its highest honor.

Pete Massiello
Co-President of iInTheCloud, LLC

Pete Massiello is the immediate past President of the national POWER systems users group, COMMON, which he helped revive. This not only gives him national recognition, but also has created close ties to all the IBM i executives. Pete has a BS in Computer Science from Hofstra University and an MBA from the University of New Haven. He is also an IBM Champion and is a member that writes the technical certification tests that every business partner in the world must pass to sell and support Power Systems. Spending significant time in Rochester, Minnesota, Pete works with the IBM i Development staff, where iInTheCloud leverages that knowledge on behalf of its customers. Over the last three years, when IBM wanted to do presentations to all their customers on upgrading to IBM i 7.1 and 7.2, they asked Pete Massiello to co-present with Steve Will, IBM i Chief Architect.

Pete Massiello regularly speaks at local user groups across the country, at the COMMON Conference, and other conferences all over the world. Educational subjects include system management, upgrades, partitions, HMC, hardware, performance, and IBM i virtualization.
